Position Summary:

 

UEC is seeking a Software Engineer (Level III) to provide high-level software engineering support to the organization. Position reports to the Engineering Manager or assigned supervisor.

 

Primary duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Design, modify, develop, write, and implement software applications
  • Support and/or install software applications/operating systems
  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of computer architectures, operating systems, and programming languages
  • Participate in the software testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing, and certification of software
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the software engineering field
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Perform a variety of complicated tasks as required
  • May lead and direct the work of others
  • Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected

     

     

    Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in computer engineering, computer science, engineering or related field (Engineering Technology degrees do not qualify)
  • Minimum of six (6) years related experience
  • Incumbent must attain and maintain a Top Secret Security Clearance

     

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to integrate new features into software and/or demonstrated ability to find, correct, and log errors in software. At least one is required. Both are preferred.
  • Experience in C++ and/or JAVA programming (or equivalent). At least one is required. Both are preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team.

     

    Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in application programming, development and maintenance.
  • Possess good communication skills.
  • Experience in Windows and/or Linux development.
  • Demonstrated experience in TCP/IP network programming.
  • Demonstrated experience in multi-threaded application programming.
  • Demonstrated experience with using design patterns.
  • Experience in CORBA.
  • Experience in Ant.
  • Experience in Perl.
  • Experience in ACE.
  • Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio.
  • Experience using Eclipse.
  • Experience using a software configuration management tool.
  • Experience using a software modeling tool.
