UEC Electronics Nominated for the 2018 Defense Security Service Award for Excellence

March 14, 2019, Hanahan, SC. As Governments, companies and individuals vie to steal US Defense and National Security Technology, US Companies have to be aggressive in their approaches to safeguarding critical information.  Threats are encountered from foreign and domestic entities alike.  UEC Electronics has been singled out by the Defense Security Service (DSS) for their vigilance in thwarting threats and protecting US Defense and National Security Technology.

UEC Electronics was nominated for the 2018 DSS Award for Excellence in Counterintelligence from a field of 10,000 cleared companies falling under the National Industrial Security Program.  After a multi-stage, highly competitive vetting and selection process, UEC Electronics was one of only six companies elevated to the final selection phase.

Achieving a “Finalist” ranking is an extraordinary accomplishment. UEC Electronics’ nomination was the culmination of an effective security program that includes vetting and reporting of visitors, suspicious and unsolicited contacts, monitoring of networks, a collaborative insider threat training program, and a compliant AS5553 Counterfeit Materials Control Program.

The Facility Security Officer and Director of Strategic Planning, Nancy Straight, said, “Keeping counterfeit parts out of the DoD Supply chain, while effectively protecting critical information is everyone’s responsibility.”  UEC Electronics’ President, David Modeen added, “UEC Electronics demonstrates what is best about the US Manufacturing Industrial base.  We were pleased to receive the recognition from DSS for our employee’s proactive efforts.”
